Ang Lee’s breakout movie “The Wedding Banquet” (囍宴) was pivotal for Asian and LGBTQ representation in its unique portrayal of Asian-American family relationships. Now this groundbreaking movie is reimagined as a musical for a new generation. Meet some of the cast and crew to discover what makes this new stage production special.
Dennis catches up with some of the cast and crew of a new musical production of Ang Lee’s movie “The Wedding Banquet.” They chat about the special nature of this production, as a Taiwan-U.S. coproduction including Broadway stars Telly Leung (Aladdin, Wicked) and Matt Shingledecker (Wicked, Rent). Director Gordon Greenberg chats about the show's special development in Taiwan, with his hopes that the show could make it to Broadway.
Telly, Matt and Gordon share their excitement for working on this unique project here in Taiwan and the pleasure of working with a Taiwanese cast and crew.
